It's been only two weeks since the previous photography meetup hosted by the talented Daniel Adams and there we were again at the Wetlands having another photography meetup. Due to the fact that many people wasn't able to attend the previous meetup Sheryl and I decided to organize another one before Daniel leaves to pursue his studies.

Just like two weeks ago, we all met up to have lunch then headed to the Wetlands. When we arrived we went straight to the shallow lake to shoot. Literally all of us including the models braved the muddy lake in hope of getting some good shots and we did even though it was scorching hot that afternoon.

We all had such a fun time shooting all the models, bonding and fooling around at the Wetlands. I can't possibly forget the moments we all shared. I sure wish I could relive last Saturday over and over again. I'm beyond grateful to have met some of them again and some of them for the very first time. Despite our age gap we could still get along really well. It was so nice of those who are already legal adults to look out for us, minors at the Wetlands.

Last Saturday was definitely by far the best day ever. Thank you to everyone who attended and made this photography meetup a success. It wouldn't have been fun without all the taleneted photographers, Daniel, Sheryl, Nicole, Husaini, Jason, Jonathan, Khairi, Shammie, Ian, Suhana, Zetty and Herry, as well as the lovely models, Naomi, Jane, Juliette, Harmini and Zoey.

I'm glad art brought us all together (this couldn't get any cheesier).

(I'm going to be writing a lot more than usual for this post so please bear with me.)

I had the honour and opportunity to attend a local photography meetup organized by the very talented Daniel Adams. Daniel planned this meetup about 3 months or so in advance and last Sunday it finally became a reality. I had the opportunity to meet Daniel as well as other talented photographers such as Nicole Lim (whom I already know), Liam Folie, Jason Lim, Renee Ho, Isabella Tan (also known as XBellanotte), Raisa NorAzzam, Khairi Zawawi and Herry Phnuah.
The meetup was held at Taman Wetlands in Putrajaya and it is such a beautiful place to shoot at despite the long distance from some of our homes. Most of us met at 1pm and had lunch together then headed over to the Wetlands.

When we arrived the Wetlands, we went location scouting and checked out the place while the models were getting their makeup done. We came across this park-like place which was on a hill I suppose and it was filled with bamboo trees. The other photographers had no problem walking up the steep hill but for me it felt as if I had vertigo and I had no idea why I was feeling that way. We also came across a slightly stone paved track which separated the bamboo park and the lakes. Right after the stone paved track we had to walk down a hill which was less steep than the previous hill to get to a lake. The lake was surrounded by huge rocks and it was pretty dangerous if you ask me but it was worth it (oh, the things we do for art). Behind the lake was another shallower lake and this time surrounding the lake was a lake bank. The water was pretty clear that we could see little fishes swimming. Some of the photographers who were wearing slippers dowsed their feet in to the lake and eventually put their legs into the lake and braved the mud (the water was only up to just above their ankles).

After that some of them were seated in the back of Raisa's pickup truck while the rest of us leaned against cars and stood around her pickup truck and chatted for a while. As soon as the models were all set we headed to the bamboo park. The bamboo park was a beautiful place for shooting and the lighting was magnificent but I couldn't stand up for too long due to vertigo so I didn't get many shots there without the tendency of falling.

skipping the part where we shot at the slightly stone paved track and the lake surrounded by the huge rocks because I don't have anything very interesting to write about

Finally we got to the shallow lake to shoot. Personally that was my favourite of all because it was the safest and it was beautiful too. After we took shots of the models on the lake bank and shots of the models in the lake the slight drizzle began getting heavier and decided it was time to bounce (not literally though). We quickly and gently shoved our cameras into our bags, took our stuff (and some had to dry their feet and wear their shoes) and ran like nobody's business all the way back to the car park which was quite a distance. When we got into the cars we were pretty sweaty, partially soaked, trying to catch out breath and our hearts racing like no tomorrow but we all still managed to say "that was fun".

Last Sunday was one hell of a day. It was definitely one of the best experiences I've ever had. It was fun seeing other photographers worked and it sure was lovely meeting so many people with the same interest as me. They were all really nice people and they were a fun bunch as well. It's so great how a common interest can bring so many people of different ages together. I would definitely love to meet them all again some time. Sadly we didn't get to have a group photo together nor say goodbye due to the horrendous weather. Thank you so much to Daniel for hosting this meetup, the models, Fung, Naomi & Melissa for being so cooperative and also the makeup artists for the day, Naomi & Fung!

A little summary of what we did during the meetup captured with my phone

Sheryl and I have planned a tennis court photoshoot for some time already and we finally got the chance to do so two days ago. We went to a tennis court at the club to shoot at 10 something in the morning which is a pretty unusual time for us to shoot but we had no choice as for the tennis courts are always fully booked in the evening. Thankfully the weather wasn't scorching hot even though we shot at 10 something in the morning. After spending about an hour and 45 minutes there just spontaneously shooting and trying out poses we decided to head home because we were sweating like mad. I'm really happy with how the pictures turned out and the amount of positive feedback I've gotten so far is a huge achievement for me.

week 6/52 for my 52 week project

I had a pretty spontaneous mini photoshoot with my childhood friend, Kimberly, yesterday evening. This photoshoot has been postponed multiples times because every time I want to shoot it's either raining or I have a ton of homework to complete. She walked over to my house yesterday evening and we began taking pictures through my house's glass sliding door. (Initially I already taken a picture of her through the glass sliding door with the butterfly on her right eye, but I realized that I forgot to tell her to button her top all the way and the picture looked so casual which bothered me a lot. Call me a perfectionist but I had to retake that picture. And I'm glad I did because it turned out way better than the previous shot.) After that we walked to her house where there was this pretty bougainvillea bush in front of her house fence and I took a few shots of her posing in front of it.

This photoshoot was done two weeks ago with the gorgeous Naomi as well as photographers Sheryl Ng and Nicole Lim at Rimba Kiara Park at TTDI. I was honoured to be invited to shoot with Sheryl and Nicole that day. My dad and I went to Sheryl's place at 3pm to pick her up then headed to Rimba Kiara Park. It took us close to 40 minutes to arrive there and Nicole arrived about another 20 minutes later. It was really windy and soon as we expected, it started to rain. Sheryl and I waited with Nicole in her car for Naomi who was stuck in her condo because there was a crime scene outside. It was still raining when Naomi arrived so we shot under a hut until the rain subsided. We explored the park a little and decided to ditch our umbrellas and shoot whilst it was drizzling a little. When it finally stopped drizzling, it was a little foggy which was so pretty. Not to mention the park during the overcast was so beautiful and peaceful. We could finally wander around without having to worry about our cameras getting wet. This photoshoot was by far the most memorable photoshoot I've done. It was also a pleasure meeting the talented Nicole and the oh so beautiful Naomi.
